  • Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Al-Nassr earned him criticisms
  • Barcelona star Pedri has hit back at the Portuguese’s critics
  • The Portuguese forward ended 2023 with the most goals

Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to the Saudi Pro League has made him one of the most criticised footballers, but Barcelona star Pedri has come in defence of the forward.

Ronaldo chose to move to Saudi Arabia and join Al-Nassr after the mutual termination of his Manchester United contract following an explosive interview with Piers Morgan.

A year has passed since he moved to the Gulf state, and he keeps getting stronger with his performances while also influencing a host of other European stars into the league.

Per Mirror UK, his time in the Arab country has not stopped him from being nominated for FIFPro World XI 2023. His archrival Lionel Messi, who now plays in MLS, was also nominated.

Pedri hits back at Ronaldo’s critics

Some sections of fans on social media have turned on the 38-year-old since his move to Al-Nassr, downplaying everything he does and labelling him “finished”.

While speaking on a Twitch stream as quoted by Sportskeeda, Barca star Pedri fired back at those fans, claiming they know nothing about football.

“Anyone who says Cristiano Ronaldo is bad is foolish and knows nothing about football,” he said.

The former Real Madrid star notched 54 goals in 2023, the most of any player, topping European stars Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe, who got 52 each.

A big 2024 awaits Ronaldo as he will try to help Al-Nassr overtake Al-Hilal and win the Saudi Pro League while also featuring in Euro 2024 with Portugal.
