Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has decided to delay his stay in England ahead of the start of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Cameroon shot-stopper will feature in Manchester United's game against Tottenham Hotspurs on January 14 before joining his national team for their opening game of the Nations Cup a day later.
According to The Athletic, an agreement has been reached between the club and the Cameroonian Football Federation.
Onana has been Manchester United's first-choice goalkeeper since joining the club in the summer transfer window from Inter Milan.
Despite receiving a lot of criticism for his performances for the Red Devils, he remains the club's safest pair of hands.
Meanwhile, Cameroon coach Rigobert Song, will have to work with other goalkeepers in the team before the arrival of the United player.
Song has had issues with the goalkeeper in the past, sending him home during the World Cup in Qatar because of his style of play, as reported by the BBC.
Cameroon have been drawn in Group C alongside champions Senegal, the Gambia and Guinea.
Onana named in Cameroon's AFCON squad
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has been selected in Cameroon's squad for the forthcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The tournament kicks off in Ivory Coast on January 13, and there are mixed reactions over Onana's imminent departure from the Old Trafford.
The continental showpiece was initially scheduled to be held in June this year, but the prospect of disruptive rain in the host nation, Ivory Coast, meant that it was pushed back to the beginning of 2024.

Sports Brief also reported that Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana believes he knows why he receives so much criticism.
Having come off a strong season at Inter Milan and United boss Erik ten Hag took up his services in the summer of 2023, signing the Cameroon international for £47.2m.
The 27-year-old has, however, had a less-than-ideal start to life at Old Trafford and has endured 14 defeats across all competitions.
