United have already recorded nine defeats in 20 Premier League outings, with their latest loss coming at the hands of Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Sky Sports reports that Forest silenced the Manchester club 2-1 at City Ground, with Marcus Rashford scoring the visitors' consolation.

The defeat sparked anger from a section of United fans, with some calling for the sacking of Ten Hag.

Ten Hag speaks on Man United future

However, the former Ajax boss believes he is the right man to lead the Red Devils under Sir Jim Ratcliffe's minority ownership.

Speaking after the Nottingham defeat, ten Hag said via talkSport:

“I am convinced and have a strong belief we (can) get more progress, consistency in this team. This is part of a project.
"We were over performing last year, this year we are underperforming, we have to step up and I have to lead that process," he added.

Man United currently sit seventh in the standings with 31 points, nine points off the top four.

Ten Hag slammed for Mainoo sub

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on ten Hag finding himself on the receiving end for making a 'sackable offence' during Manchester United's Premier League defeat against Nottingham Forest.

ten Hag's move to sub off Mainoo at halftime has been blamed for United's defeat at City Ground.

Mainoo had helped quell the threat posed by Forest's midfield during the opening 45 minutes.
