Erik ten Hag has found himself on the receiving end for making a 'sackable offence' during Manchester United's Premier League defeat against Nottingham Forest.

According to Sky Sports, Morgan Gibbs-White's late goal sealed the win for the hosts, rendering Marcus Rashford's 78th-minute equaliser a mere consolation.

The defeat sparked anger and outrage from the United fan base, with a section of supporters singling out ten Hag for blame.

The Dutchman found himself on the receiving end, particularly for one of his tactical decisions which has been branded a 'sackable offence.'

Ten Hag slammed for subbing off Mainoo

Metro UK reports that ten Hag's move to sub off Mainoo at halftime has been blamed for United's defeat at City Ground.

Mainoo had helped quell the threat posed by Forest's midfield during the opening 45 minutes.

However, it was a huge surprise when he failed to emerge for the second half, with his place taken by Scott McTominay.

Ten Hag's decision to sub off the youngster was widely condemned, with United legend Peter Schmeichel saying:

"There was no need to make that change when you have other players on the pitch that are doing absolutely nothing for you. I question the substitution and what that signals to the rest of the team," Schmeichel pointed out.
"If you want to make an impact, you have to leave impact players on. That had a very big effect on the game," he added.

Man United set unwanted record

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Manchester United setting an unwanted record in the wake of their 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

United's defeat at Nottingham was their 14th this year in the Premier League and their 21st across competitions.
