Itumeleng Khune: Former Kaizer Chiefs Defender Mokete Tsotetsi Displeased With Case Handling
FootballItumeleng Khune Saga: Former Kaizer Chiefs Star Proposes Solution to Amakhosi’s Discipline Problems
- Itumeleng Khune was suspended after arriving at Kaizer Chiefs training under the influence of alcohol
- AmaKhosi also revoked the goalkeeper's captaincy as he also misses out on the Carling All-Stars squad
- Tinashe Nengomasha has suggested a possible long-term solution for the club
Following Itumeleng Khune's suspension by Kaizer Chiefs, former midfielder Tinashe Nengomasha provided what could be the solution to the club's indiscipline problems.
Khune was suspended, and his captaincy was revoked after the goalkeeper arrived in training under the influence of alcohol.
It was gathered that misconduct is beginning to eat deep into the club's affairs as Khune's situation triggered internal investigations.
His suspension has, however, met with mixed reactions as the aggressive shot-stopper was denied from featuring in the Carling All-Stars team.
Khune was among those who earned most votes from fans ahead of the Carling All-Stars game against Stellenbosch FC scheduled for January 6.
But Nengomasha believes more could be done at the players’ level to curb bad behaviour. He said via Farpost:
“I was fortunate to play in one of Kaizer Chiefs’ best teams. Back then, we had the likes of Scara [Emmanuel Ngobese] and Patrick Mabedi. Those guys would ensure that we are in line by all means.
“I don’t know if that is still the case. I don’t know if they still have a Players’ Committee nowadays.
“I think it’s that kind of set-up that must be adopted if it’s no longer there. It could be beneficial to avoid such embarrassment in the future."
Cavin Johnson speaks on recent struggles
Sports Brief earlier reported that Kaizer Chiefs' interim manager, Cavin Johnson, disclosed why the Glamour Boys struggled at the beginning of the season in the Premier Soccer League.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach has been in charge of the AmaKhosi since Molefi Ntseki left the club as they continue their search for a permanent manager but are getting positive results under their interim manager.
