- The club built excitement towards his arrival on social media
FC Barcelona are pumped for the arrival of Brazilian striker Vitor Roque, who is due to land in Spain this morning and their latest video has got fans buzzing.
Barcelona signed Roque from Brazilian Serie A club Atletico Paranaense for €40 million in the summer, but he had to complete the season with his former club before moving to Spain.
He helped the club to an 8th-place finish, qualifying for the Copa Sudamericana group stage and bid farewell to the club in their final game against Santos.
La Liga is currently in its off-season and will resume on January 4 with an away trip to Las Palmas as the defending champions hope to move further up the table.
Barcelona builds excitement around Roque
Per multiple reports in the Spanish media, Roque was scheduled to arrive in Spain this morning, having left Brazil last night. The club have begun teasing fans on social media, starting with a Christmas post.
They went beyond the limits with a video of a tiger, paying homage to Roque’s nickname, El Tigrinho, walking on the pitch of Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, the club’s temporary home while Camp Nou is undergoing a rebuild.
Fans are in stitches on whether the club used a live tiger or if it is a computer-generated image. The Parc de la Ciutadella in Barcelona has tigers; if a real tiger was used, it’s probably from there.
Per Mundo Deportivo, the 18-year-old has arrived in the city this morning with his family and is on his way to the club’s facilities.
