As noted by Managing Madrid, Varane is reportedly interested in a return to Real Madrid, a team where he enjoyed great success.

The Frenchman made 360 appearances for the Spanish side, winning numerous trophies with Los Blancos.

He also still has a house in the Spanish capital and remains friends with many of his former teammates.

Varane also linked with Saudi move

The World Cup winner has also been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, where he could join former Madrid stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.

The Mirror now reports that a move to the league is not an option despite the riches on offer.

Varane’s stint at Manchester United

The Frenchman has made 77 appearances for the English side since joining them in 2021, Transfermarkt noted.

He has only competed a full 90 minutes in the league once in United’s last 17 games, having missed out on some due to injury and others because he has fallen down the pecking order.

Coach Erik ten Hag has shot down reports that Varane’s lack of game time is due to a rift between him and the player.

"It's rumours. Very important player, but there's internal competition, and there should be at a top club, as we are," he said when explaining that he wasn’t dropping Varane because of a grudge.

Varane's cryptic social media post

Raphael Varane has hinted that he will be staying at Manchester United with a cryptic Instagram post, Sports Brief reported.

The post came just a few days after the World Cup winner was linked with a surprise move to the Saudi Pro League in Saudi Arabia.

The Frenchman joined the English Premier League side from Real Madrid in the summer of 2021 and was handed the No. 19 shirt.
