A new angle of Raheem Sterling's horror miss during Chelsea's Premier League clash against Wolves has emerged.

According to the Daily Star, the Englishman had a glorious chance to put the visitors ahead in the first half of the match but fluffed the opportunity.

The former Man City ace picked the pocket of Joao Gomes and left clear on goal, with teammates Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer for support.

However, Sterling opted to take the shot on himself, rather than passing the ball to a team-mate for an open goal.

His effort was subsequently smothered by Jose Sa, with Sterling's apparent selfishness sparking anger and outrage from the Chelsea support base.

@alihameeds noted:

"He was too selfish and wasted the scoring opportunity."

@Tipster_Blood added:

"This keeper need award for saving this , sterling need to be benched for missing this …..can’t recognize Chelsea anymore."

@Levy_T_ concluded:

"Sterling bottled."

The match ended in a 2-1 win for Wolves, with Christopher Nkunku scoring Chelsea's consolation.
