The unwanted Premier League record Man United set after humbling defeat vs Bournemouth
FootballKyle Walker: Manchester City Beautifully Balances Club’s Trophies After Club World Cup Win
- Kyle Walker showed off his acrobatic skills after winning the Club World Cup
- Manchester City won five of the six trophies they could win this year
- Walker has started every Premier League game this season for Pep Guardiola
Kyle Walker showed off his hidden talents following Manchester City's latest triumph. Pep Guardiola's side beat Fluminense to win their first FIFA Club World Cup on December 22.
Julian Alvarez scored twice and created one, with Phil Foden adding another one in the 4-0 rout against the South American side in Jeddah.
The win saw Manchester City win every available trophy to them at least once in what is known as 'completing football.'
Manchester City's 2023 cups
Of the six trophies they can win competitively, they are the reigning holders of five: the Premier League title they beat Arsenal to, the FA Cup they beat their cross-city rivals Manchester United to, the Champions League title courtesy of the win over Inter Milan, the Super Cup against Sevilla and now the Club World Cup.
The Carabao Cup is the only trophy City didn't win in what has been a dominant 2023 calendar year.
Manchester City have posted a video on their X(formerly Twitter) account showing Walker balancing four of the titles they won while standing on one leg. The Champions League trophy is on his head, the Club World Cup and FA Cup on each arm, the Super Cup on his knee. Only the Premier League trophy doesn't find space on Walker's body.
The fullback has been a regular for Guardiola this season, captaining the side in the absence of Kevin De Bruyne. He was feted with the silver ball after the Club World Cup final.
Guardiola proves Sir Alex Ferguson wrong
Sports Brief also reported that Manchester City have proven Sir Alex Ferguson wrong after winning the FIFA Club World Cup, and they have done it in his lifetime – a time he said it would never happen.
Ahead of the first derby of the 2009/10 season, Ferguson was asked if the Citizens would ever be top guns and if United would ever go into the derby as underdogs, and his response was demeaning.
