Roma manager Jose Mourinho singled out an African player for his performance after his side secured a 2-0 win over Napoli

Mourinho remains the gift that keeps giving, as he always comes up with ways to inadvertently entertain the neutrals with his antics on the touchline during matches.

On Saturday, the Gialorossi came against Napoli, who are having a nightmare title defence under Walter Mazzarri, who replaced Rudi Garcia in November.

A season that has seen Roma experience mixed fortunes in the league, nothing short of a win would have sufficed for Mourinho’s side if they were to keep their Champions League hopes alive.

And in typical Mourinho fashion, the former Chelsea boss deployed a tactical masterclass as he frustrated the visitors for most of the game before going for the kill in the final quarter-hour.

Mourinho praises Ndicka

At full-time, Mourinho spoke to the press as he showered his team with praise for the performance.

One player in particular, Obite Evan Ndicka, was thoroughly complemented by Mourinho, who was impressed by his showing on the defensive side of things.

“This was without a doubt his best performance as a Roma player. He played a great game.” Mourinho said, as quoted on RomaPress.net.
He added: “We worked well during the week, we improved a lot in the low defensive block, the objective was to press high and that’s what we did. Those who are anti-Roma or anti-Mourinho will talk about 11 against 10, but I’m talking about 45 minutes of 11 against 11 where only one team played to win, Bove came close to two beautiful goals, there was total control and great work from part of the team, we didn’t let Napoli play the way they like to.”

Roma are sixth on the log with 28 points, three behind Bologna, who occupy the final Champions League spot.

Mourinho in heated row with Kvaratskhelia

In the same game, Mourinho also had a meme-worthy moment when he was involved in a spat with Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Sports Brief reported that Mourinho was spotted tearing into Kvaratskhelia in the first half, with the Georgian firing back. The two pointed fingers at each other before the veteran manager grabbed the reigning league Most Valuable Player of the Year by the head and seemingly made peace.

The former Real Madrid manager also had a tiff with Osimhen, whom he accused of diving during this fixture last season.
