  • Liverpool rejected a £150 million offer for Mohamed Salah last summer
  • At 31, the Egyptian winger is expected to leave the club sooner or later
  • The Reds will need to look at possible replacements for the African ace

Mohamed Salah has been one of the major driving forces in Jürgen Klopp’s success at Liverpool since he joined the club permanently from AS Roma in 2017.

The Egyptian winger formed a formidable front three with Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, a trio that won all possible trophies for the club but was disbanded when Mane left in 2022.

The club received a mouthwatering offer of £150 million for Salah from Al-Ittihad, which was rejected, but it could be time to cash out at the end of the season.

Sports Brief looks at five possible replacements for the left-footed winger, including one who is already Klopp’s favourite.

Salah’s potential replacements at Liverpool

1. Jarrod Bowen

The English winger is one of West Ham’s most important players en route to their UEFA Europa Conference League triumph last season. Per Mirror UK, Klopp described him as his favourite player at the moment for the way he has developed.

2. Leroy Sane

Per The Athletic, the German attacker fancies a move away from Bayern Munich and by the end of the season, he will enter the final year of his contract. It presents an opportunity for Liverpool to pounce and sign the former Manchester City winger.

3. Raphinha

The Brazilian winger had prior Premier League experience with Leeds United before moving to Barcelona in 2022. His time at the La Liga club has not met expectations and due to financial issues, the club could axe the player they signed for £55mil for 18 months ago.

4. Michael Olise

The France U21 winger is among the best left-footed players in the English league. Chelsea attempted to sign him in the summer but were scared away as he extended his contract. However, he looks a good fit to replace Salah.

5. Johan Bakayoko

The only player with no PL experience among the five, Brentford attempted to sign him last summer but he stayed at PSV Eindhoven. Per Goal, the Dutch club demanded €45mil for the Belgian, with rumours suggesting the Reds are interested.

Emenalo not giving up on Salah

Sports Brief previously reported on Michael Emenalo not ruling Salah out of a future move to the Saudi Pro League after Liverpool foiled previous attempts.

The former Chelsea sporting director claimed the SPL's door is open to any player and they had no problem with bringing the Egyptian in at a later stage.
