- Luis Garcia let his emotions get the better of him as he threw a tantrum on the sidelines
- Madrid top the table to end 2023 as Girona failed to beat Real Betis in their final match
It’s safe to say that Luis Garcia is not a happy man.
The Deportivo Alaves manager did little to hide his frustration after his side were beaten by Real Madrid in La Liga.
As noted by Eurosport, Alaves were on course to grab a share of the spoils when Lucas Vasquez scored a stoppage-time winner to give Carlo Ancelotti’s side the win.
With his team conceding a goal in the game's dying minutes, Garcia couldn’t hold back his emotions. The Spanish manager was seen venting on the touchline, kicking over a bucket with water bottles, and grabbing one of his staff members.
He also angrily threw his jacket to the ground as his team conceded so late. Garcia then took his seat on the bench, but his temper had yet to subside as he stomped his feet furiously.
What the win means for Madrid
Thanks to the late goal, Madrid climbed to the top of the La Liga standings and will end 2023 on top of the table.
They are level on points with Girona but claim top spot thanks to their superior goal difference. Girona had a chance to head into the new year as table toppers but were held to a draw by Real Betis.
Argentina’s German Pezzella scored for Betis with two minutes left to play in the game as they stretched their unbeaten run to 13 games, SuperSport reported.
Ancelotti backs European Super League
While Real Madrid are focusing on winning La Liga this season, they are also at the centre of the current plans for a controversial breakaway league.
