Black Stars forward, Jordan Ayew joined an elite list of Crystal Palace players with more than 20 Premier League goals after scoring against Brighton on Thursday evening.

The Ghana international netted his 20th goal for the Eagles in the English top flight after opening the scoring at Selhurst Park with a powerful header.

Ayew met a lovely cross from Michael Olise just before half-time to give the South London club the lead.

However, the visitors levelled late through substitute, Danny Welbeck, as the spoils were shared.

According to OptaJoe, Ayew climbed to sixth place in the list of Crystal Palace players with more than 20 Premier League goals for the club.

Wilfried Zaha, who left the club in the summer transfer window to join Galatasaray, is at the summit with 68 goals, followed by Christian Benteke with 35 goals.

Luka Milivojević is in third place with 28 strikes while Chris Armstrong (21) and Andrew Johnson (21) follow in that order.

Ayew has been a key figure at Crystal Palace, signing a contract extension in November, as reported by the club's official website. The goal against Brighton was his second of the season for the club.

Sports Brief previously reported that Ghanaian forward, Ayew extended his Crystal Palace contract after a sterling start to the 2023/24 season.

The English club's Player of the Month for August was also rewarded a new contract, which saw him lengthen his time at Selhurst Park until 2025.

Ayew netted his first goal of the campaign in Palace's 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur with assists against Sheffield, Brentford and Plymouth Argyle.

Ayew named in Ghana's provisional AFCON list

Sports Brief previously reported that Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton has released his 55-man squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

The English coach included England-born West Bromwich Albion forward, Brandon Thomas-Asante as well as 11 home-based players in his team.

The Ghanaian team, which will be pruned to 26 men, also sees youngster Forson Amankwah earning his place in his country's list for the first time.
