  • Arsenal have returned back to the Premier League summit following their 2-0 win against Brighton
  • The Gunners have a one-point advantage over second-placed Liverpool, who drew vs Man United
  • Man City remain fourth with 34 points after being held to a 2-2 draw by Crystal Palace on Saturday

Manchester City and Liverpool were among the biggest losers in game week 17, with the two teams dropping points in their respective fixtures.

City surrendered a 2-0 advantage to draw 2-2 with Crystal Palace, while the Reds were held to a goalless draw by struggling Manchester United on Sunday at Anfield.

Liverpool's disappointing result saw them relinquish the top spot to Arsenal, who stunned Brighton earlier in the day.

According to Sky Sports, second-half goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz earned the Gunners a vital win to go top on the charts with 39 points.

The Reds therefore needed nothing short of a win against United to reclaim the slot when they faced off later on Sunday. However, the two teams instead settled for a draw, with the result seeing Liverpool drop to second with 38 points.

Aston Villa are placed third with 38 points following their chaotic win over Brentford.

City, meanwhile, remain fourth with 34 points, while Tottenham Hotspur complete the top-five podium with 33 points.

Man United drop as Chelsea remain 10th

Elsewhere, Man United's draw at Anfield saw them drop to seventh with 28 points, a point behind Newcastle United, who beat Fulham 3-0.

According to the BBC, the Newcastle clash saw Lewis Miley net his first goal for the Magpies.

Chelsea's 2-0 hard-fought win over Sheffield United has them still rooted in 10th with 22 points, four points behind ninth-placed Brighton.

Meanwhile, Luton Town, Burnley, and Sheffield United all remain in the relegation zone as their struggles continue.

Arteta gets yellow card

Sports Brief previously reported opinion was divided after Mikel Arteta was shown a yellow card during Arsenal's Premier League clash against Brighton on Sunday.

The Spanish manager was booked in the closing stages of the first half of the tie with the scores still goalless, with his team then grinding out a victory over the Seagulls.
