MLS Cup Winner Yaw Yeboah Receives Heroic Welcome Following Return to Ghana: Video

Columbus Crew winger, Yaw Yeboah was given a heroic welcome following his return to Ghana after winning the Major League Soccer title.

The Ghana international scored the winner as the Ohio-based club defeated Los Angeles FC to win the 2023 title.

Yeboah is back in Ghana for a short vacation before returning to the United States for pre-season in January.

In a video shared on social media, Yeboah was met by his fans, with a traditional dancing group welcoming the player in style.

The former Black Meteors captain joined the Major League Soccer side in 2021 and has since been an integral member of the squad.

The 26-year-old has been retained by the club ahead of the 2024 season as the Gold and Blacks set sights on defending their title.

“Winning the MLS Cup in front of our home fans was the culmination of the tireless efforts of our team, staff and the entire organization, and we are so proud of what we were able to accomplish,” said Crew President Tim Bezbatchenko, as quoted by the club's official website.
“As we celebrate the Cup, we also turn our attention towards the 2024 season, which is just around the corner. We are pleased to welcome back the core of the squad and look forward to getting preseason underway next month.”

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Yaw Yeboah's first-half strike proved decisive as Columbus Crew defeated Los Angeles FC to win their third Major League Soccer title in an exciting final at the Lower.com Field.

The Ghana international slotted home just four minutes after Cucho Hernandez had given the Gold and Blacks the lead.

Gabonese forward Denis Bouanga pulled one back for LAFC but it was too late as the 2020 champions reclaimed the title.

Yeboah wins MLS Eastern Conference title

Sports Brief also reported that Ghanaian midfielder Yaw Yeboah played a pivotal role as Columbus Crew defeated Cincinnati to win the Eastern Conference title.

The 26-year-old played a key role as the Gold and Blacks staged a sensational comeback to beat FC Cincinnati in the Eastern Conference final.

Yeboah started and lasted 76 minutes as Columbus Crew defeated Cincinnati 3-2 at the TQL Stadium.
