Having beaten Cincinnati in the 'Hell is Real' derby to reach the final, Crew came into the game knowing it would take something special to beat the holders, LAFC.

After a fine start, the Ohio-based club were awarded a penalty on the half-hour mark, which was converted by Hernandez.

Four minutes later Malte Amundsen sent in a defence-splitting pass, which was well-read by Yeboah, who had a good first touch before finishing off to double the advantage.

Crew with the two-goal lead maintained their composure in the second half.

However, after waves and waves of attack from LAFC, Bouanga finally pulled one back in the 75th minute.

Columbus Crew held on to win the title for the third time, adding to the ones won in 2008 and 2020.
