The CAF Women's Awards is rated as the biggest individual award when it comes to female African football and is a top prize every player wants to win.

The 2023 edition was a fierce competition between Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala, Banyana Banyana star Thembi Kgatlana, and Zambian striker Barbra Banda.

The Barcelona Femeni striker has now won the last three editions of the award after being named the winner in Morocco.

CAF Women's Player of the Year past winners

CAF inaugurated the Women's Player of the Year awards in 2001, with Super Falcons legend Mercy Akide winning the first edition.

Oshoala holds the record for the most wins, having won the prestigious continental football award in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022, and 2023, according to a report by Punch.
