FootballLuke Shaw: Man Utd Fans Come Up With 2 Theories After Defender’s Injury Against Bayern Munich
- Luke Shaw added to Manchester United’s injury list against Bayern Munich
- The English defender was replaced by Aaron Wan-Bissaka after the first half
- Fans on social media have come up with a theory about the defender’s injury
Luke Shaw played only 45 minutes of Manchester United’s 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich before going off injured, and fans think they know why the injury came at that time.
Shaw started in his traditional left-back position in a must-win game for United but could only play the first 45 minutes before Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot replaced him on the left.
The Red Devils also lost former captain, Harry Maguire to injury in the first half, culminating in a 1-0 defeat and subsequent elimination from the competition.
Head coach, Erik ten Hag provided an update on the two after the game, claiming there would be further information after assessments, which would happen in 24 hours.
Fans’ theory on Shaw’s injury
Shaw has a poor fitness record. Per Transfermarkt, he has had 13 different injury types, including ankle and hamstring injuries, missing over 200 games since he joined the Red Devils.
His latest injury is the second this season, and some United fans think the England international faked the injury for two reasons.
X user @4mxrioo claimed the 28-year-old went injured on purpose to avoid squaring up against nemesis, Mohamed Salah on Sunday when United take on Liverpool at Anfield.
Another user, @MikeLUHG2 added that the video game Call of Duty just released a new patch. It was not the first time his injury coincided with the launch of versions of a popular game.
He is not the only United player at risk of missing the Anfield trip due to injury.
First-team stars Mason Mount, Christian Eriksen, and Lisandro Martinez are also injured, among others, while captain Bruno Fernandes is suspended.

Fernandes to miss Liverpool clash
Sports Brief previously reported on Fernandes’ suspension for the Liverpool clash at Anfield after picking up a needless yellow card in United’s 3-0 loss to Bournemouth.
The Red Devils captain, on four yellow cards, was booked for dissent towards the referee after Marcus Rashford was fouled at Old Trafford -his fifth booking of the new season.
