Banyana Banyana captain, Thembi Kgatlana, has officially proposed to her long-time girlfriend, Abongile Dlani, in heartwarming fashion.

The South African international shared a clip showing the moment she went down on one knee to ask for her partner's hand in marriage.

The memorable moment was witnessed by a handful of family members and well-wishers, who were left emotional by the romantic occasion.

The South African reports the pair have been in a loving relationship for over eight years, and they have been proud of their union, flaunting themselves on social media.

On the day of the engagement, wearing white suits respectively, the couple shared warm hugs while soul and love songs echoed through the arena.

Some of the guests present could not hold back tears of joy in a moment that could be described as 'touching'.

Kgatlana plays for the National Women’s Soccer League club, Racing Louisville FC and the South Africa women’s national team.

She was part of the Banyana Banyana squad that travelled to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where they crashed out in Round 16.

Her performance at the tournament earned her a nomination for the CAF Women's Player Award, which Nigerian sensation, Asisat Oshoala scooped.

Despite being drawn into the dangerous Group G at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup alongside Sweden, Argentina, and Italy, South Africa progressed into the tourney's knockout stages.
