President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reacted after Nigerian trio Asisat Oshoala, Chiamaka Nnadozie, and Victor Osimhen won big at the 2023 CAF Awards in Morocco.
Osimhen was the biggest winner on the night as he was crowned the CAF Player of the Year ahead of Morocco's Achraf Hakimi and Egypt's Mohamed Salah.
Super Falcons forward, Oshoala was named the CAF Women's Player of the Year ahead of South Africa's Thembi Kgatlana and Zambia's Barbara Banda.
Nnadozie was not left out as she was crowned the best women's goalkeeper ahead of Moroccan shot-stopper, Khadija El-Rmichi and South Africa’s Andile Dlamini, according to PUNCH.
The Nigerian President took to his official handle on X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate the Nigerian duo for their achievements during the 2023 CAF Awards.
"I congratulate Nigeria's Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, on winning the CAF 2023 Men’s Player of the Year award, the remarkable achievements of Asisat Oshoala of Nigeria’s Super Falcons, who clinched the 2023 CAF Women's Player of The Year for the sixth time, Chiamaka Nnadozie, who was awarded the Woman Goalkeeper of the Year, as well as the Super Falcons for emerging the Women's National Team of the Year at the CAF Awards 2023," he said.
In addition, the Super Falcons were also named the National Team of the Year (women's category), with Michelle Alozie and Osinachi Ohale making the CAF Women's Best XI.
