FootballBarcelona Rues Not Signing Ex Striker As Lewandowski’s Poor Form Continues
- Barcelona are worried about Robert Lewandowski’s slump in form
- The Poland forward has managed eight La Liga goals this season
- Lewandowski joined Barcelona in 2022 and won La Liga in his first season
Robert Lewandowski’s poor form this season has become a significant source of concern for the Barcelona hierarchy following the striker’s struggles in front of goal.
The Poland forward, who finished as La Liga’s top scorer last season ahead of Karim Benzema, has struggled to replicate that form this term, managing just eight goals in La Liga.
Lewandowski has also scored just once in the UEFA Champions League, a form that has brought panic to Barcelona as the Catalan club now regrets not keeping Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Barca News Network reports.
Aubameyang came to Camp Nou in January 2022 for free after terminating his contract with Arsenal, and his experience and skills were essential in helping Barcelona end the 2022-23 season in a dignified manner.
Aubameyang scored 13 goals in 23 matches for FC Barcelona in La Liga and the UEFA Europa League and quickly made his place in the hearts of the club’s supporters during his time in Spain.
Fans call for Lewandowski’s exit
Meanwhile, Robert Lewandowski has come under fire for their recent performance against Girona as some Barcelona fans have called for the 34-year-old forward to leave their club, Sportskeeda reports.
Fans blamed Barcelona’s surprise defeat to Girona on the Poland forward, whom they believed was below par in the La Liga encounter against their city rivals, and have asked the board to offload him in January.
Lewandowski has played 18 matches, scored nine goals, and provided five assists in all competitions for Barcelona this season.
