Newly crowned African Player of the Year, Victor Osimhen seized the opportunity to react to his treatment by Italian champions Napoli following a viral video trolling him early in the season.
The Nigerian forward was mocked in a video shared on TikTok after he missed a penalty during the game against Udinese.
The video, which depicted a racist motive has been condemned by the club and according to the striker, it was an act by 'a stupid individual' who has been dealt with.
Osimhen added he has a good relationship with the club, and president Aurelio De Laurentiis has always stood by him.
"First of all, I have to correct an impression here. I was not treated badly by Napoli or Aurelio de Laurentiis. This was, sorry to use the word, stupid mistake, by an individual who thinks you can use search a thing to joke at the crucial moment," he said at the presser following his CAF Player of the Year award.
"I was not happy about it but of course, De Laurentiis stood with me and made sure they see to the matter and the individual was dealt with," he added.
Osimhen's future has since been in question, with several clubs waiting for the window to make a move.
However, the 24-year-old says he is focused on the new campaign after making an injury comeback a few weeks ago, as reported by AP News.
"That is in the past and I now look forward to the future," added the striker.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Nigerians are not taking it lightly with Napoli's official Tiktok account after the club uploaded a video trolling Victor Osimhen for his penalty miss against Bologna.
The Italian champions have not started the season strongly, and their woes were compounded by a 0-0 draw away from home as they remain seventh on the table.
Osimhen could have won the day for his team after Napoli were awarded a penalty for a handball in the box, but the 24-year-old blazed it wide to wrap up a frustrating day.
