FootballMichael Owen Questions Whether Harry Kane Made the Right Decision in Leaving Tottenham Hotspur
- Harry Kane opted to leave Tottenham Hotspur in England in order to win trophies
- Kane has already hit the ground running with Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga
- Michael Owen doesn't agree with Kane's decision to swap England for Germany
Did Harry Kane make the right decision to leave Tottenham Hotspur when he did?
The England captain left the London-based side to join Bayern Munich in Germany, but not everyone agrees with his decision.
As noted by Goal, former Liverpool striker Michael Owen believes that Kane should have stayed with the English Premier League side and help lead them to a trophy.
What did Owen say?
The English striker-turned-pundit believes that Bayern will win the Bundesliga every season, with or without Kane, and so his winning trophies there won’t have the same significance as it would at Spurs.
“We'll probably judge Kane's career when he retires. I made some headlines when the reports of Kane joining Bayern came out by saying that it wasn't the right move for him. I still think that,” Owen said.
“In my opinion, Bayern are going to win the Bundesliga every year either way. If Kane retires and can only point to his two or three Bundesliga medals, then I think staying in England would have been better,” the ex-Real Madrid man said.
Kane setting new records in Germany
While Owen may have his doubts about Kane’s decision, the former Spurs striker is certainly enjoying his time in Germany.
The Englishman has hit the ground running with the side and has already broken records in the process.
As the Bundesliga website noted, Kane already surpassed one record set by German legend, Gerd Muller, scoring more goals in his first 12 games of the season.

Sports Brief previously reported that England's comeback victory over Italy, which secured their spot in the upcoming Euros tournament, featured a standout performance from Kane.
The Bayern Munich star has been in remarkable form following his move to the Bundesliga club and extended his scoring streak by netting two goals in front of the Wembley crowd.
Kane's double on the night propelled him past the late Sir Bobby Charlton, making him the all-time leading goal-scorer for the England men's team at Wembley, with a tally of 24 goals.
