The 2023 CAF Awards, organised by the Confederation of African Football, was held at the Movenpick Hotel in the central Moroccan city of Marrakech last night, December 11.

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen won the prize ahead of Liverpool and Egypt forward, Mohamed Salah and Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco defender, Achraf Hakimi.

Former Bayern Munich forward, Sadio Mane won the last two editions but failed to make it to the final three finalists for this year's edition.

CAF Player of the Year past winners

CAF inaugurated the new format of the awards in 1992, with Samuel Eto'o and Yaya Toure holding the record as respective four-time winners, according to a report by The Sporting News.

Osimhen received the award for his efforts with both the Super Eagles and Napoli, with Nigeria coming out as the biggest winner from the event.
