- Drogba and Salah teamed up at Chelsea for a short period during the 2014/2015 season
Didier Drogba and Mohamed Salah are two of the greatest African Premier League players ever.
The Chelsea legend paid tribute to the Liverpool star after he again entered the record books on Saturday.
The 45-year-old took to social media to praise Salah, even digging up an old tweet six years ago in his message to the Egyptian star.
Drogba pays tribute to Salah
Drogba praised Salah back in 2017 when he won the award for best African player, writing on X (formerly known as Twitter):
"Well deserved my Brother, so proud of you!!!!!! Legend in the making. The best is yet to come."
That tweet aged well for the Ivory Coast icon after Salah made history in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.
He scored his 150th career goal in the Premier League on Saturday after netting a 76th-minute equaliser in that victory over Palace.
Drogba made sure to remind everybody that he saw this coming in his message to Salah on X, writing:
"Tweeted that six years ago…and the rest is history @MoSalah, Congratulations my Brother on another milestone Stay blessed ❤️ @premierleague 150 goals"
Drogba and Salah’s Chelsea connection
It’s important to remember that Drogba and Salah were once teammates at Chelsea before the latter became a superstar in Merseyside.
In fact, two of the Egyptian ace's 150 Premier League goals came during his stint with the Blues.
