Harambee Stars coach Sebastien Migne left Cairo for France after Kenya's elimination from the African Cup of Nations was confirmed, it has now emerged.

Stars were banking on Cameroon defeating Benin for them to have a chance of qualifying for the round of 16.

However, Benin's barren draw against the cup-holders effectively ended Kenya's slim hopes of progressing to the next round of the tournament.

Migne’s charges managed to beat regional rivals Tanzania but defeats to Algeria and Senegal in other group matches saw them crash out of the tournament.

Stars jetted into the country on Thursday morning, July 4, but the French tactician was conspicuously missing from the travelling team.

Reports surfaced soon after that Migne may have been axed as coach, but a source at Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has since debunked the rumours.

The source divulged to Goal the coach opted to make a return to France for a one week holiday.

He is now expected back in the country in a few days to commence preparations for the forthcoming African Championship (CHAN) qualification match against Tanzania slated for later this month.

Others who did not travel back with the team are Japan-based forward Michael Olunga who is heading back to Japan where he will link up with his club Kashiwa Reysol and China-based winger, Ayub Timbe who is equally heading back to his club Beijing Renhe.
