What are the latest La Liga transfer rumours? Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid
FootballBarcelona to Use Griezmann Tactics to Sign Joao Felix From Atletico Madrid
- Barcelona are ready to sign Joao Felix permanently from Atletico Madrid
- Felix has impressed the Catalan club’s hierarchy while on loan this season
- Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are eager to finalise a deal before next summer
Joao Felix’s dream move to Barcelona could become permanent as the Catalan club decided to sign the Portugal forward from Atletico Madrid next summer.
The 23-year-old forward, who joined the reigning La Liga champions on loan this summer, has become one of Barcelona’s key players under Xavi Hernandes this season.
According to GOAL, Atletico Madrid wants between €70 and €80 million for Felix, which is way more than La Blaugrana’s evaluation of the forward as they plan to make an offer of €30 to €40 million for the former Benfica starlet.
Barcelona, however, have a backup plan of using the Antoine Griezmann format to sign their target next summer by requesting to take him on loan again next season if their initial offer is rejected.
The Catalans aim to take advantage of Felix’s unwillingness to return to Atletico. They will aim to drive down the price for the Portugal forward, whose sole goal condemned his parent club to a 1-0 defeat on Sunday, December 3.
How Griezmann forced Felix's exit
Meanwhile, the arrival of Antoine Griezmann back to Atletico Madrid Madrid prompted Joao Felix’s decision to leave the La Liga club after being displeased by the decision, Football Espana reports.
Diego Simeone had spoken to the Atletico dressing room about the possibility of Griezmann returning last season, with all but Felix pleased with the idea because it meant reduced game time for him.
Felix’s lack of consistency in effort nor productivity forced Simeone to bring back Griezmann after the France forward had joined Barcelona in a big-money move in 2019.
Atletico players outraged at Felix
Earlier, Sports Brief reported Joao Felix scored the game-winning goal for Barcelona against Atletico Madrid on Sunday night and was delighted to celebrate against his parent club.
