Morocco will again host the Women's Africa Cup of Nations in 2024 but the dates for the tournament have not been decided just yet.
What is locked in are the participants who will aim to stop South Africa from becoming only the second nation to win the competition consecutively.
Three nations from the COSAFA region, three from North Africa, four from West Africa and one from Central and East Africa each will make up the three groups of four teams.
The surprise is the exclusion of Cameroon, who along with Nigeria and South Africa, have been the most consistent performers in the tournament's history.
Cameroon were shocked in the first qualification round by Kenya. They won the first leg 1-0, and Kenya repeated the result in the second leg, before winning the penalty shootout.
Kenya was then eliminated by Botswana in the second qualification round, who along with Zambia and South Africa are the three representatives from COSAFA.
Nigeria qualified by beating Cape Verde 7-1 on aggregate in the second qualification round. Senegal beat Egypt 4-0, Mali beat Guinea 10-2 and Ghana beat Namibia 3-2 to round out the West African representation.
Algeria and Tunisia will join hosts Morocco in enjoying the familiar surroundings. Algeria beat Burundi 6-1 while Tunisia beat Congo 6-3.
Two-time winners, Equatorial Guinea were beaten 3-2 by DR Congo while Tanzania survived a 2-0 defeat to Togo in the second leg to progress to the tournament with a 3-2 aggregate score.
