  • Erik ten Hag is staring at an uncertain future at Manchester United
  • The Red Devils have been struggling for form and consistency
  • Ten Hag's charges have already lost six of the 14 EPL games they have played

Erik ten Hag is seemingly living on borrowed time at Manchester United following the club's frustrating run of form and results across competitions this season.

The Dutchman was appointed to the role back in April 2022 as a permanent replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who had been sacked months earlier.

Ten Hag had a bright start to life into his Old Trafford reign, winning the Red Devils the Carabao Cup in his maiden season last term and guiding them to a third-place finish in the Premier League.

Incredibly, United's triumph in the Carabao Cup last term was their first trophy in more than five years, with their last coming back in 2017 under Jose Mourinho, per CNN.

Ten Hag's impressive start brought some level of hope and optimism that United were finally on the path to glory under the former Ajax boss.

So much so that many backed the Red Devils to challenge for more titles this season.

Man United's struggles under Ten Hag

However, that is unlikely to be the case, with the Old Trafford dwellers already out of the Carabao Cup.

Ten Hag's charges are also on the brink of getting knocked out of the Champions League in the group stages and need a miracle to qualify for the next round.

The EPL giants have picked up only one win in five games in Group A of the tournament and need nothing short of a win and some luck in their final game against Bayern Munich to have any chance of sailing through.

In the domestic scene, they have equally endured their fair share of struggles, having already lost six of the 14 matches they have played.

Their most recent outing ended in a 1-0 defeat at Newcastle on Saturday evening, with the result seeing them drop to seventh in the standings with 24 points, a massive nine points behind leaders Arsenal.

Could Ten Hag be sacked?

United's worrying run of form and lack of consistency has sparked rumours Ten Hag could be shown the door in the foreseeable future.

Indeed, a familiar pattern from former managers at Old Trafford cited by Football Tweet suggests the 52-year is unlikely to survive.

In their last days at the Theatre of Dreams, rumours were rife that David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Solskjaer, and even Ralf Rangnick had lost the dressing room.

It has already been claimed that there is a revolt in the dressing room, with a section of players opposed to certain aspects of Ten Hag's management.

While the Dutchman has since come out to refute the allegations, it remains to be seen how long he will keep his job at Man United.

Ten Hag addresses United revolt rumours

As Sports Brief also reported, ten Hag addressed reports of a revolt within the Manchester United dressing room on Tuesday.

The embattled Dutch coach battled a fresh wave of criticism after his side's 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United on Saturday.

In the wake of the defeat, ten Hag reportedly lost part of the dressing room after clashing with Anthony Martial during the match.
