The Red Devils' draw with Galatasaray dented their slim hopes of securing a spot in the round of 16 of the Champions League, with their latest setback vs Newcastle seeing them drop to seventh in the EPL table.

According to BBC, Anthony Gordon was responsible for United's defeat at St. James Park, with the forward's second-half goal condemning the visitors to defeat.

Maguire 'advises' Ten Hag

Maguire, who has fought his way into United's XI in recent days, has offered an honest assessment of the team in the wake of their defeat at Newcastle.

According to the Englishman, the Red Devils have to start playing with a higher tempo, admitting they did not play well enough, especially in the early exchanges.

"I don't think we played to our level and it's been a tough week. Three away games, six days, but we don't use that as an excuse. We didn't play well enough, especially in the first half," Maguire admitted vis The Mirror.

"I think we defended the box well tonight. The other areas of the pitch, we allowed them to get into the box far too easily, so it's something we need to work on, all of us as a team," he continued.

United will be back in action on Wednesday against rivals Chelsea at Old Trafford.
