Luis Suarez drew the curtain on his enthralling time at Brazilian Serie A club, Gremio FC, as he bade farewell to the fans of the club recently.

According to data courtesy of Fotmob, the former Barcelona star made 52 appearances for Gremio, scoring 24 goals and providing 12 assists under the management of Renato Gaucho.

Suarez marked his departure with a remarkable performance, scoring the only goal in the victory against Vasco de Gama on Sunday night and after the final whistle, he received a standing ovation from the crowd.

During the former Liverpool star's spell at the club, he helped them win both the Recopa Gaucha trophy and the Brazil State Championship.

Following the cheers and ceremony that marked the end of his time at Gremio, Suarez took to the media to discuss a plethora of topics, including his immediate future.

Suarez on his immediate future

Now a free agent, Suarez is rumoured to be considering a move to Inter Miami and reuniting with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba.

However, it appears the former Liverpool star isn’t in a haste to get back into action.

As quoted by transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Suarez shared his thoughts on his future, expressing the need for a break before making decisions about the next phase of his career.

"I can feel pain; my body is speaking for me. I want to enjoy and then decide for myself after a long career. I need to rest; enjoy my family. Then destiny will determine where I'll be in the future."

While Suarez's comments might have surprised many, Gremio coach, Renato Gaucho hinted that the forward could take a short break before potentially joining Messi and Inter Miami for pre-season training ahead of the 2024 MLS campaign, as reported by Goal.
