Son Heung-min found the back of the net for both Spurs and City in the first 10 minutes of an enthralling contest, and he made fun of that experience after the match.
Ecstacy to agony after Son's own goal
The South Korean star gave Tottenham a dream start, opening the scoring in the sixth minute with a fine solo effort.
His joy was short-lived, though, as he scored his first-ever own goal just minutes later.
The Tottenham captain diverted Julian Alvarez's cross into his own net in the ninth minute to make it 1-1.
Son talked about that own goal in an interview with Sky Sports after the contest, saying:
“Good experience to score an own goal for the first time against Manchester City.”
City and Spurs deliver six-goal thriller
The action didn’t let off after that opening exchange, with both sides showing their attacking intent to grab all three points.
Phil Foden gave City their first lead of the match in the 31st minute, finishing off a slick attack to put the hosts in front 2-1.
Tottenham regrouped after the half-time break and found an equaliser in the 69th minute.
Giovani Lo Celso pulled Spurs level with a superb curling effort from the edge of the box.
