Diego Simeone has achieved many things in his career, but there’s one thing he has yet to do.
The Atletico Madrid manager has been in charge of the club for close to 12 years, but there is one side that continues to be his jinx team.
Despite Simeone’s success with the side, including winning La Liga twice, he continues to struggle against FC Barcelona.
Simeone has lost 18 games against the Catalans during his managerial career, the most any single team has beaten him.
He has also never picked up a single win at Barcelona’s home in 32 games during his stint as Atleti manager in all competitions.
Simeone’s chance to break the duck
The Argentinian will have a chance to finally get that elusive win when Atletico travel to take on Barcelona in La Liga tonight (December 3).
As noted by Goal, both sides are level on 31 points, with Atleti pipping Barca on goal difference. With Barca going through a bit of a rough patch, Simeone will believe this is his best chance to get that elusive win.
Simeone’s impressive spell at Atletico
While he may be struggling against Barcelona, Simeone has had a lot of success with Atletico the rest of the time.
He has been in charge of the team for 645 games, Transfermarkt reported, winning 383 of them. He has notched 1,294 points in all those games.
