FootballFans' Footballer of the Year 2023: Salah, Haaland Lead 12 Man Shortlist for Prestigious Award
- Mo Salah and Haaland lead a list of 12 players nominated for the Fans' Footballer of the Year 2023
- Salah will be hoping to win the award for the third time, having won it on two occasions (2021 and 2022)
- Bruno Guimares, who won the award last year, did not make the shortlist for this year's edition
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah and Manchester City's Erling Haaland have both made the 12-man shortlist for the Fans' Footballer of the Year 2023 award.
The duo has been nominated for the prestigious prize after an impressive campaign during the year under review, with Halaland's goalscoring prowess helping City win a historic treble last season.
According to The Mirror, Salah will be gunning for the award for the third time in his career, having won it on two occasions (2021 and 2022).
However, he is sure to face stiff competition from a host of other players, who have also made the nomination list prepared by journalists.
Apart from Haaland, Man City duo Rodri and John Stones have also been nominated, and so is Arsenal superstar Bukayo Saka.
Declan Rice's role in helping West Ham United secure the Europa Conference League last season has also seen him get the nod for the award.
Who else has been nominated?
Football London reports that Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins and Newcastle's Kieran Trippier have also been shortlisted for the award.
Outside the Premier League, Bayern Munich's Harry Kane and Real Madrid hotshot Jude Bellingham have been nominated.
From the women's game, Manchester United goalkeeper Mary Earps has been shortlisted alongside Chelsea striker Sam Kerr.
Kerr got the not after impressing in both the Women's Super League and the Women's World Cup.
