FootballBarcelona’s Joao Felix Slams Former Teammate Antoine Griezmann Following Recent Criticism
- Antoine Greizmann and Joao Felix were teammates at Atletico Madrid
- The French forward recently criticised Felix in an interview
- The Portuguese star has hit out at the Atleti number seven ahead of Sunday's clash
The highly anticipated La Liga clash on Sunday, December 3rd, between Atletico Madrid and Barcelona at the Estadi Olympic Lluis Companys Montjuic promises to be a spectacle for football fans.
Beyond the enthralling football that will be on display, the match holds significance as it marks Joao Felix's first encounter with his former team, Atleti, since his summer move to La Balugrana.
Felix, who has openly emphasised the importance of playing attacking football—a point many considered crucial to his underwhelming performance at Atletico—recently faced criticism from his former teammate Antoine Griezmann.
According to Atletico Universe, Griezmann suggested that Felix may lack the consistency needed to thrive at Atletico Madrid, an issue that plagued him during his four-year stint at the La Liga club.
Atleti goalkeeper Jan Oblak echoed Griezmann’s sentiments, and midfielder Saul Niguez mentioned that improvements could have been made during Felix’s time at the club. However, it appears the Portuguese do not share Griezmann's perspective.
Felix on Griezmann’s statement
In response to Griezmann's remarks, the 23-year-old, speaking to the Spanish outlet Movistar+, as cited by Football Espana, said,
"I disagree. Everyone has their opinion, and I’m not going to comment. Obviously, things could have been done better, both by me and everyone else. There have been things that have not been done well, but it was not just the fault of one person; it was the fault of several."
Felix's words add a layer of intensity to what is shaping to be a heated reunion between the Portuguese forward and Atletico Madrid.
