Teams that can still reach the UCL last 16

Group A

Bayern Munich booked their place in the round of 16 after winning each of their first four group matches.

The other three teams in Group A remain in contention for a spot in the knockout round heading into Matchday 6.

Copenhagen are currently in second place in the group with five points. They hold the tie-breaker over Galatasaray, who also have scored five points.

Manchester United are languishing at the bottom of the Group A table with four points following their 3-3 draw with Galatasaray on Matchday 5, per ESPN.

The final Group A matches will feature Copenhagen vs. Galatasaray and Manchester United vs. Bayern Munich on December 12.

The winner of that Copenhagen-Galatasaray clash will advance to the round of 16.

In case that match ends in a draw, Copenhagen will need Bayern Munich to get at least a draw against United at Old Trafford for them to advance.

Galatasaray’s only way to reach the knockout round is for them to beat Copenhagen in Denmark.

Manchester United’s only way to reach the round of 16 is for them to beat Bayern Munich and for the Copenhagen vs. Galatasaray match to end in a draw.

Group C

Real Madrid breezed through the competition in Group C, winning all five of their matches thus far to secure the top spot.

Two other teams in Group C remain in contention for a place in the knockout round heading into Matchday 6.

Napoli are currently in second place with seven points scored from five games. They hold a three-point lead over third-placed Braga heading into their final showdown on December 12.

The Italians only need a draw in that contest to advance to the round of 16.

For Braga to qualify for the knockout round, they will need to beat Napoli by at least two goals.

A one-goal win for Braga over Napoli would also be enough for them to advance if they score at least three goals in that match.

Group F

The 'Group of Death' has lived up to its billing. Borussia Dortmund have already punched their ticket to the next round after scoring 10 points in their first five matches.

The other three teams in Group F remain in contention, though, for a place in the knockout round heading into Matchday 6.

Paris Saint-Germain are currently in second place in the group with seven points.

Newcastle United are ranked third in Group F with five points. They hold the tie-breaker over AC Milan, who also have scored five points.

The final Group F matches will feature Dortmund vs. PSG and Newcastle vs. Milan on December 13.

PSG need to win over Dortmund for them to advance to the round of 16, per Sports Brief. In case that game ends in a draw, PSG will need the Newcastle vs. Milan match to end in a draw or a win for the Italian giants.

Newcastle’s only way to reach the knockout round is for them to beat Milan and for Dortmund to get at least a draw against PSG.

AC Milan’s only way to reach the round of 16 is for them to beat Newcastle and for Dortmund to beat PSG in the other match.

Group H

Barcelona reached the round of 16 of the Champions League for the first time since Lionel Messi’s departure after racking up 12 points in their first five matches.

Two other teams in Group H remain in contention for a place in the knockout round, with Porto and Shakhtar Donetsk each having nine points heading into Matchday 6.

They will face each other on December 13, with the winner of that clash grabbing a spot in the last 16.

Porto would advance to the Champions League knockout stage in case that match ends in a draw. Porto hold the tie-breaker after defeating Shakhtar Donetsk in their previous meeting in Group H.
