Bayern Munich officially confirmed the contract extension of their veteran goalkeeper and captain, Manuel Neuer.

The German international, who joined the club from Schalke 04 in July 2011, penned down a one-year extension at the Bavarian club, keeping him at the Allianz Arena until the summer of 2025.

ESPN reports that the decision to extend Neuer's contract reflects the club's confidence in the 37-year-old, who recently returned to action after a 10-month layoff due to a leg injury sustained while skiing.

With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, the one-year extension ensures his presence as a Bavarians player during Germany's hosting of the European Championship next year.
