  • Kylian Mbappe was unhappy with PSG's disappointing result with Newcastle United
  • The 24-year-old rescued his side from the jaws of defeat with a 98th-minute penalty
  • PSG could seal qualification to the next round with a win at Dortmund on matchday six

Kylian Mbappe expressed his frustration following Paris Saint-Germain's stalemate against Newcastle United in the UEFA Champions League.

Despite an electrifying effort from Mbappe, who netted a crucial last-minute penalty, PSG couldn't secure a win against the Magpies on Tuesday night.

Struggling to break the deadlock, the French champions found a lifeline in injury time when VAR intervention deemed a handball by Tino Livramento in the box as grounds for a penalty.

The Frenchman confidently converted the spot-kick, salvaging a draw for PSG, maintaining their second-place position in the group, trailing behind Borussia Dortmund, who have already secured a spot in the last 16 after a 3-1 victory over AC Milan.

Mbappe laments about PSG's profligacy

PSG's Champions League performances have faltered in recent years, and this season seems no different, with Mbappe's late goal—his 17th of the season—rescuing them from a tough situation.

Despite his crucial goal, the 24-year-old couldn't ignore his team's missed opportunities.

PSG, under Luis Enrique's guidance, dominated possession, tallying 31 shots with seven on target, yet missing eight significant chances, as per Sofascore's statistics, leaving the 24-year-old forward lamenting their inability to capitalise on these moments.

“It is frustrating because we dominated this team from start to finish," he told reporters as quoted by PSG Report.
"They have nothing. We knew it was their game to have nothing. We need to be more involved in front of goal.
"We have to kill the match. We the players, have to be much more efficient. We have to finish our chances.”
