  • Paris Saint-Germain sanctioned a flurry of departures in the summer transfer
  • A host of stars including Draxler, Ramos, Verratti, and Neymar were shown the exit
  • A report stating the unity in the Ligue 1 club's locker room since two stars departed has emerged

Throughout the summer, Paris Saint-Germain grappled with uncertainty over the future of star forward Kylian Mbappe.

The Ligue 1 club executed a strategic shift in its transfer policy, transitioning from acquiring Europe's elite stars to focusing on the recruitment of promising talents globally.

According to data courtesy of Fotmob, PSG authorised the exit of 21 first-team players, with notable figures such as Lionel Messi and Brazilian star Neymar Jr. deemed surplus to requirements.

Despite concerns among fans that the departure of key players would impact the team's performance, the reigning Ligue 1 champions seamlessly adapted to the changes, reclaiming their position at the top of the French League standings.

Nonetheless, amid the stellar start to the season the French club are experiencing, a report has stated that the departure of Messi and Neymar has united the team.

PSG more united after Messi, Neymar's departure

A report from Le Parisien stated that the departure of Messi and Neymar has contributed to a more cohesive and united team spirit at PSG. The French outlet has noted that with the departure of these marquee stars, more playing time has become available to several other squad members, fostering greater unity within the dressing room.

The report emphasises that certain players felt their pathways to the first team were obstructed in the previous season due to the indispensable presence of players like Mbappe, Messi, and Neymar.

Furthermore, it highlights that numerous substitute players are now enjoying increased game time and have already eclipsed the goals tally scored by the club's substitute last season.
