Steven Gerrard has confessed there was a gloomy feeling within his players following Al Ettifaq’s draw with reigning Saudi Arabian league champions Al Ittihad on Friday.
Al Ettifaq threw away a 1-0 lead at home to the reigning champions, with former Liverpool midfielder Fabinho assisting Abderrazak Hamdallah for the crucial equaliser in the second half.
According to the Daily Mirror, Gerrard felt gutted with just a point, admitting that the dressing room was full of sadness, which was evident on the faces of his players because of the draw.
"We're disappointed with the result, we were closer to getting the three points. The dressing room was full of sadness on my players' faces because of the draw."

FootballThe draw against Al Ittihad leaves Gerrard’s team seventh on the league standings with 23 points from 14 games played so far this season, 15 points behind league leaders Al Hilal.
Meanwhile, the game between Al Ettifaq and Al Ittihad marked the reunion of former Liverpool midfielders Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum alongside Steven Gerrard, Liverpool Echo reports.
The reunion of Wijnaldum and Henderson who now play for Al Ettifaq, and Fabinho who represents Al Ittihad, marked a significant moment for the trio since their move to Saudi Arabia in the summer.
Henderson remained upbeat after the game, posting a selfie on social media with Fabinho and Wijnaldum. Along with it, the ex-Liverpool captain wrote, "Reunited," and added a smiling emoji and a red love heart.
