  • Andre Ayew endured a nightmarish debut at Le Havre
  • The Ghana international was sent off within two minutes of his debut
  • Le Havre held FC Nantes in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday

Andre Ayew's second debut in the French Ligue 1 lasted less than three minutes after the Le Havre forward was sent off for a tackle on FC Nantes' Eray Comert.

The Black Stars captain replaced Loic Nego in the 65th minute and got sent off in the 67th minute.

Ayew joined Le Havre just before November's international break but had to wait to make his debut for the club on Sunday, November 26, 2023.

Despite being reduced to ten men with 23 minutes remaining, Le Havre held on to draw with FC Nantes at the Stade de la Beaujoire, as reported by beIN Sports.

Ayew will miss Le Havre's home game against Paris Saint Germain next week as he serves a suspension for the red card against Nantes, per Ghana Soccernet.

The veteran midfielder has enormous experience playing in Ligue 1, having starred for giants Olympique Marseille during the early days of his career.

Ayew left France in 2016 to join Swansea City before enjoying spells at West Ham and Nottingham Forest in England.

He also featured for Turkish giants Fenerbache SK before a brief moment with Al Sadd in Qatar.

Andre Ayew joins Le Havre in France

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has joined Le Havre in France after five months without a club.

The 33-year-old returned to Europe to sign a deal that will see him stay at the French club until the end of the 2023/24 season.

The former Olympique Marseille forward is expected to play a key role at the club due to his enormous experience in the French league.

Comoros Island beat Ghana on Ayew's return

Sports Brief also reported that Comoros have beaten Ghana again in 24 months after a 1-0 victory in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Moroni on Tuesday.

Myziane Maolida's first-half strike was enough as the little Island nation recorded an important win against the four-time African champions.

The Black Stars started the game on a bright note, with Inaki Williams finding strike partner Antoine Semenyo, but the Bournemouth forward missed the chance.
