Andre Onana was equally in fine shape, with his impressive performance helping the visitors keep a clean sheet.

According to the Premier League, this was United's fifth clean sheet of the season after 13 games.

This brings their total tally to 500 clean sheets, the most by any club in the history of the English top flight.

Man United's journey to 500 clean sheets

The Red Devils have been privileged to have some of the best goalkeepers and a world-class backline that has helped them record the most clean sheets in Premier League history.

Legendary goalkeepers Peter Schmeichel, Edwin van der Sar, and David de Gea have all played a key role in helping the Manchester club achieve the feat.

Schmeichel kept a total of 128 clean sheets in 350 Premier League appearances during his illustrious spell with Manchester United.

The Danish legend holds the record for the most clean sheets (22) kept by a goalkeeper in a single Premier League season.

On his part, Van der Sar kept a total of 132 clean sheets in 266 EPL appearances for United, while De Gea kept a total of 147 clean sheets during his decade-long stint at Old Trafford.

Which other clubs have the most clean sheets?

Meanwhile, according to Squawka, Chelsea and Arsenal are also among the clubs that have recorded the most clean sheets in the Premier League.

Like Man United, the two London clubs have also had some iconic goalkeepers and defenders turn out for them. As it stands, the Blues rank second in the clean sheet charts, having recorded 476 shutouts in history.

Petr Cech accounts for a huge chunk of the clean sheets recorded by the west Londoners, with 163 of them to his name.

The legendary goalkeeper achieved the feat in 334 Premier League appearances for Chelsea and remains the all-time leader in clean sheets for both Chelsea and the Premier League.

Arsenal told they won’t win the Premier League

Elsewhere, Sports Brief previously reported on Manchester City icon, Richard Dunne’s reasons why Arsenal will not win the EPL this season.

The Gunners have not tasted top flight glory for close to two decades now, with their last triumph coming in 2004 under Arsene Wenger.

Only a point is separating Arsenal at the top and second-placed Manchester City, who are keen to defend the title for a fourth straight season.
