FootballReal Sociedad vs Sevilla: Umar Sadiq Scores Goal of the Season Contender
- Umar Sadiq has finally scored his first goal of the 2023/24 season
- The Nigerian scored a sensational long-rage strike for Real Sociedad against Sevilla
- His goal helped his team get a vital 2-1 win over Sevilla
Real Sociedad forward Umar Sadiq may have scored a goal of the season contender in their pulsating clash against Sevilla.
The striker doubled Sociedad's lead with a spectacular long-range strike, and fans on social media could not believe it.
In the 22nd minute, the Nigerian received the ball from Hamari Traoré in the middle of the pitch and went past two Sevilla players before unleashing an unstoppable shot into the top corner from outside of the box.
The goal gave the hosts a 2-0 lead against a struggling Sevilla side in the La Liga clash. Sevilla's Marko Dmitrovic scored an own goal to give the hosts a 1-0 lead inside three minutes.
Youssef En-Nesyri pulled one back for the visitors in the 60th minute. However, they couldn't equalize or get a winner; instead, they got two red cards late in the game.
Veterans Sergio Ramos and Jesu Navas received straight red cards, which compounded their misery.
Sadiq welcomed after injury
Sadiq raptured his ACL early last season and was ruled out for the rest of the 2022/23 season after making just two La Liga appearances.
In July, in a video shared on social media, the lanky forward was left speechless as his teammates embraced him on his return to training, as Sports Brief earlier reported.
The striker has started the season slowly, but the stunning goal against Sevilla could kickstart things for him after a tough first season with Real Sociedad. He has made 14 appearances this season and has one goal and an assist, per Transfermarkt.
