  • Barcelona will not be with one of their coaches against Atletico Madrid and Girona
  • Sergio Alegre vented his frustration at the assistant referee during Barca vs Rayo Vallecano
  • That resulted in his dismissal with a red card, and he is set to miss two games

Barcelona's struggles continued on Saturday with a 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano at Vallecas. The Catalan giants were frustrated, feeling they were denied two penalties.

Sergio Alegre, a member of Xavi Hernandez's coaching staff, expressed his frustration towards the assistant referee and was subsequently shown a red card.

According to the referee report, Alegre "left the technical area with his arms raised protesting a decision by the assistant referee number one."

Per Football Espana, Alegre is set to be banned for two matches, pending a ruling from the Competition Committee next week.

This means he will be absent from the dugout for Barcelona's upcoming La Liga matches against Atletico Madrid and Girona.

La Blaugrana aim to break their current run of poor form in these challenging fixtures.

Xavi on Barcelona struggles

Barcelona have faced backlash from the media following their struggles in the league, and coach Xavi believes that criticism is starting to affect his players negatively, as Sports Brief earlier reported.

In their last game before the international break, they had to come from behind to beat Alaves on Sunday, November 12. Those underwhelming performances have happened frequently this season.

Barcelona are four points off the top spot in La Liga as the Catalans currently trail league leaders Girona, who have 34 points from 13 games, while Real Madrid are second with 32 points.

Last season, Xavi led Barcelona to their first La Liga title since 2019, per the Athletic.

Lewandowski clashes with Lamine Yamal

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Lewandowski expressing frustration with Lamine Yamal during their 2-1 victory against Alaves.

The Polish international, at times visibly frustrated during the game at Montjuic, ultimately proved pivotal by scoring two times for Barcelona.

A video has surfaced online showing Lewandowski clearly upset with Yamal after the youngster failed to pass to him inside the Alaves box.
