Bayern Munich climbed to the summit of the German Bundesliga thanks to the first-half strike from Harry Kane in the victory against FC Cologne.

The English forward, who continues to rack up the numbers, was on hand to finish off from a rebound of an initial strike from Eric Choupo-Moting.

In a match that saw the Bavarian club miss a flurry of chances, Kane's solitary effort was still enough to see him etch his name into Bundesliga history.

According to eurofoot.com statistics, the 30-year-old became the first player to score 18 goals in the initial 12 games of a Bundesliga season.

However, Kane wasn't the only one making headlines in the Bundesliga. Bayern Munich's manager, Thomas Tuchel, also etched his name in history, albeit in a less exciting manner.

Tuchel sets unwanted record

According to data courtesy Gracenote Live, the 50-year-old Tuchel became the first Bayern Munich manager since Louis van Gaal on December 11, 2010, to make no substitutions in a Bundesliga match during the team's three-nil home win over FC St. Pauli.

This decision by Tuchel did not go unnoticed, prompting the Bayern manager to address it in the media. Quoted by @iMiaSanMia, he explained,

"The players on the bench deserved to play. My intention was not to punish them; I told them that as well. I was just pleased with everyone on the pitch and how they held their positions, so I didn't want to disrupt the rhythm and risk conceding a late goal."

Despite some discontent among the players on the bench, they will look forward to potential involvement when Bayern faces FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League.
