Bernard Antwi Bosiako, a member of the ruling National Patriotic Party in Ghana, insists the Black Stars will reach the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup if vice-president, Mahamoud Bawumia is voted into power in 2025.
Dr Bawumia has been elected as the flagbearer of the NPP and will lead the party in the 2024 general election.
According to Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, the vice-president will give his full backing to the national team to ensure they become successful at the next World Cup.
The politician has hailed Dr Bawumia as a 'man of action'.
"He is going to create employment for the youth. He is the brain behind NABCO, which was meant to help alleviate youth unemployment," he told Adom FM, as quoted by Ghana Soccernet.
"It's almost like when you go to every district, there are astroturfs; when we came to power, there were only two, but now there are about 180 nationwide.
Chairman Wontumi also noted Dr Bawumia's love of sports and his intentions to bring about development:
"I am very confident we will get the world's best from this country under his leadership. We will reach the final of the World Cup under his leadership. He will do miracles with sports."
The two politicians are currently on a 'thank-you' tour following the vice-president's victory during the NPP congress.
