PSV right-back Sergino Dest has taken to social media to apologize for his red card during the USA's CONCACAF Nations League clash against Trinidad and Tobago in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Dest was sent off early in the first half after two quick yellow cards, and his teammates were not happy with his behaviour after the match.

Dest had a great individual performance and even assisted Antonee Robinson, who scored the opener for USMNT.

However, a few seconds of madness saw Dest's night end with an avoidable red card. The former Barcelona defender was unhappy about a no-call earlier when he believed he deserved a free-kick.

When the play stopped, the 23-year-old kicked the ball into the stands before berating Guatemalan referee Walter López, who swiftly showed him two yellow cards in quick succession.

USMNT ended up losing the match 2-1 but progressed to the semis with a 4-2 aggregate victory, per ESPN. Gregg Berhalter's side had won the first leg 3-0 last Thursday.

Dest will be suspended for the semi-final.

Dest issues apology

The defender took to Instagram after the game to issue an apology for his inexplicable actions.

"I want to apologize to my Teammates, Staff, Fans and whole nation for my behaviour it was unacceptable, Selfish and immature I let my team down! It’s something I have to learn from and it won’t happen again!"

Dest has a decent disciplinary record. At PSV this season, he has gotten just one yellow card in 13 games. He rarely gets a red card, so his dismissal against Trinidad & Tobago was just a momentary lapse of judgment.

In fact, that was his first rec card in a USMNT shirt in 31 appearances, per Transfermarkt.

Dest destroys Ghana players

Sports Brief earlier reported on Dest entertaining fans during the international friendly between Ghana and the United States.

He beat Joseph Paintsil and Gideon Mensah before out-pacing Jordan Ayew and then nutmegging Edmund Addo, with the latter impeding him. The Black Stars were beaten 4-0.
