FootballDidier Deschamps Trolls Luis Enrique With Mbappe Comment Following Victory Against Gibraltar
- Kylian Mbappe was in stellar form during France's Euro qualifier against Gibraltar
- The Paris Saint-Germain forward was involved in six goals during Les Blues' victory
- France coach, Didier Deschamps has mocked Luis Enrique following his side's win
Kylian Mbappe played a central role as France secured a historic victory against minnows, Gibraltar. In a remarkable performance, the French national team dominated Julio Ribas' side, scoring a record 14 unanswered goals.
Paris Saint-Germain forward, Mbappe showcased his exceptional skills as he was directly involved in six of the 14 goals on the night.
The French captain, who was rightfully named the player of the match, ascended further up Les Blues' all-time leading goal-scorers list, according to a report by Livescore.
Following the conclusion of the game, head coach Didier Deschamps showered praise on the 24-year-old. However, his commendation also carried a cheeky undertone, serving as a subtle jab at PSG's coach, Luis Enrique.
Deschamps’ dig at Enrique
As quoted by GFFN, the 55-year-old addressed the media and gave a taunting comment about Mbappe:
"I expect a lot more."
This remark was a clear response to the previous criticism from Enrique after PSG's 3-0 victory against Reims, where Mbappe scored a hat trick.
Enrique had surprisingly expressed dissatisfaction, as reported by PSG Report:
"I'm not really happy with Kylian Mbappe today. On the goals, I have nothing to say. But he can help the team more, in a different way. I'll talk to him about it first; I'll never tell you what it is because it's private. Kylian is one of the best in the world, but we need more. We want him to do more things."
Despite the critique, Mbappe has remained unfazed and has continued to excel for both his club and country.
The top scorer of the 2022 FIFA World Cup recently achieved a significant milestone by reaching 300 career goals, marked by his hat-trick on the night.

Mbappe told to leave PSG
In a previous report, Sports Brief stated that Mbappe was told to leave PSG as it 'hampers his chances' of winning the Ballon d'Or after he lost out this year to his former teammate.
The 24-year-old had a phenomenal year, reaching the World Cup final and also winning the Ligue 1 title with PSG, but finished third overall behind Erling Haaland and Lionel Messi.
