Mbappe’s goals in Ligue 1

Mbappe will go down in history as one of the greatest players in Ligue 1.

He has scored a total of 254 goals while playing for Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain.

Mbappe started his Ligue 1 career with Monaco in 2015, playing with the French club for two seasons.

He struggled in his first season in the French top flight, scoring just one goal in 14 appearances for Monaco.

He showed what he is capable of in his second season with the club, scoring 26 goals in 44 appearances for Monaco in the 2016-17 campaign.

He helped Monaco win the Ligue 1 title for the first time since 1999. Mbappe also led Monaco to the Champions League semis for the first time since 2004.

They failed to reach the final, however, after losing 4-1 on aggregate to Juventus.

It was only a matter of time before the big European clubs tried to sign the teen phenom.

Paris Saint-Germain announced the signing of Mbappe on loan from Monaco with a mandatory purchase option of €180 million on August 31, 2017, per Bleacher Report.

He scored 21 goals in 44 appearances for PSG during the 2017-18 season, helping them win the Ligue 1 and Coupe de France titles.

He was even better in the 2018-19 season, scoring 39 goals in 43 appearances for PSG, who successfully defended their Ligue 1 title.

His production slightly dropped in the 2019-20 season but was still impressive regardless. He scored 30 goals in 37 appearances for PSG, who claimed a domestic treble.

They came close to winning the Champions League for the first time in their history. They reached the final but lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich in the title decider.

The 2020-21 season proved to be bittersweet for Mbappe. He scored 42 goals in 47 appearances for PSG, the highest tally he has recorded in a single season.

Mbappe, who received the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award, failed to win the French league title that season with Lille beating PSG by just one point.

PSG also fell short in Europe, losing to Manchester City in the Champions League semi-finals.

PSG strengthened their squad for the 2021-22 season, signing Lionel Messi in a blockbuster deal.

Mbappe benefited with Messi in the lineup, scoring 39 goals in 46 appearances for the club.

PSG regained the Ligue 1 title, winning by 15 points over Marseille. Messi’s arrival didn’t help their bid to win the Champions League title as they lost in the round of 16 to Real Madrid.

Mbappe hit the 40-goal mark for the second time in his career in the 2022-23 season. He scored 41 goals in 43 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain, helping them win the Ligue 1 title for the second straight year.

He is off to a great start in the 2023-24 season, scoring 15 goals in 15 appearances for PSG.

Mbappe has scored 42 goals in the Champions League. Only Lionel Messi has scored more goals in football's biggest club competition (51 goals) before the age of 25.

Mbappe’s goals for France

It’s only a matter of time before Mbappe becomes France’s all-time top scorer. He continued his march towards the No. 1 ranking, scoring a hat-trick in the 14-0 win over Gibraltar on Saturday.

He is now in third place with 46 goals for France, surpassing teammate Antoine Griezmann’s tally for the national team.

Mbappe started playing for France in 2017, scoring one goal in 10 appearances for the national team.

He became a legend in his country in 2018 when he led France to the World Cup title that year.

He scored nine goals in 18 appearances for France in 2018, four of which came during their World Cup Final campaign in Russia.

The PSG star scored three goals each in 2019 and 2020 to stretch his tally to 16.

He rediscovered his scoring form for France in 2021, scoring eight goals in 14 appearances.

Mbappe continued his superb play on the international stage in 2022, scoring 12 goals in 13 appearances for France.

He nearly led his country to their second straight World Cup title in Qatar but lost to Argentina in an epic final.

He won the tournament’s Golden Boot, finishing with eight goals, including a hat-trick in the World Cup Final, per Fox Sports.

Mbappe was named France’s captain after the World Cup, and he has been playing inspired football for Les Bleus ever since.

He has been on fire for France this year, scoring 10 goals in eight appearances. They have won all seven of their Euro 2024 qualifying matches.
