Lionel Messi has been a gracious individual since his early days as a professional footballer. A son of his former teammate, who is also a pro, has recalled a moment with him.

Messi has spent most of his playing career at FC Barcelona, where he created a lot of memories and cemented his place as arguably football's greatest of all time.

However, he was forced to leave the club in 2021 due to financial issues at the Catalan club and has gone on to play for two clubs and won international trophies with Argentina.

Per Metro UK, he had the opportunity of returning to the club in the summer but opted to try a new adventure outside of Europe with Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.

Thuram recalls beautiful moment with Messi

He played with some of the football greats during his time at the club, especially Ronaldinho, Andres Iniesta, Xavi and also France legend Lilian Thuram, who spent his final days at the club.

Thuram senior was in his final years when the diminutive Argentine broke onto the scene at Barcelona, and his son, Marcus, has recalled a moment with the former captain.

Speaking to DAZN Italia via La Gazzetta dello Sport, he flashed back to when the Inter Miami star gave him his football boots.

“At the age of 10, I went to see my father training at Barça, and I didn’t have my boots with me. Messi was young, and after training, I wanted to go on the pitch with the other kids to play,” he said.

“Leo was almost the same size as me: I wore 38, and he 40-41. He left me his shoes, I played, then he said ‘keep them’. At 10 years old, I didn’t realise what had just happened, and the next day, I gave them to a friend. I regret it every day.”
